Lighting Installation for Homes & Businesses

From a single pendant to a full outdoor security scheme, New Power Holdings handles lighting installation across Gauteng — wired safely, switched sensibly and finished neatly.

More Than Fittings

Good Light Is an Electrical Job First

A lighting installation succeeds or fails behind the ceiling: the switching layout, the circuit loading, the drivers and transformers, the fixing that holds a heavy fitting safely overhead. We handle that side properly, then make the visible part look effortless.

Ceiling fans, chandeliers, dimmers and two-way switching for stairs and passages are all everyday work for our teams. If walls are already open for renovations, pairing lighting with rewiring or new circuits saves real money, because the chasing only happens once.

Lighting Installation Across Three Fronts

One team, three very different briefs:

Indoor and feature lighting

Downlights, pendants, under-cabinet strips and wall washers, with dimming wherever it earns its keep. Kitchens get task light you can chop by, bedrooms get circuits you can soften, and the lounge gets its feature fitting hung on a fixing that will never let go.

Outdoor and security lighting

Motion-sensor floodlights, gate and perimeter lights on day-night switches, and garden or pool lighting on weatherproof, IP-rated fittings. Outdoor circuits get proper earth leakage protection, because a garden light full of rainwater should trip a breaker, never hurt a person.

Commercial and office lighting

Panel lights, shopfront displays, warehouse high bays and occupancy sensors that stop empty rooms burning money. We install after hours where trading demands it, and our maintenance plans keep multi-site lighting running without anyone chasing failed lamps.

What an LED Retrofit Actually Saves

Electricity at roughly R3.50 per kWh has made old halogen downlights one of the easiest savings in the house. The arithmetic below assumes four hours of use a day:

FittingWattageEnergy per yearCost per year
One halogen downlight50 W±73 kWh±R256
One LED downlight5 W±7 kWh±R26
20 halogen downlights1,000 W±1,460 kWh±R5,110
The same 20 points on LED100 W±146 kWh±R511

A typical 20-light home claws back the cost of decent LED fittings within a year or two, and existing wiring is reused wherever it tests sound. Retrofits run province-wide — see all the areas we serve.

  • Lower bills from the first month. Around 90% less energy per downlight, every hour it burns.
  • Cooler ceilings, lower risk. Halogens run hot enough to scorch insulation; LEDs barely warm up.
  • Years between ladder trips. Quality LEDs run 15,000 hours and more, against roughly 2,000 for halogen.
  • Friendlier to backup power. An all-LED house is light enough for a small inverter to carry through load shedding.

Lighting Questions We Hear Often

Usually, yes. Most LED downlights fit the existing cut-outs, and where sizes differ we use converter plates, so the ceiling stays untouched.

Weatherproof, IP-rated fittings on circuits with 30mA earth leakage protection, and joints sealed in proper enclosures. Garden wiring done with insulation tape is where wet-weather tripping starts.

Of course. We will flag quality concerns before installing — cheap LED drivers are the usual weak point — and our workmanship guarantee covers the installation either way.

Both. For renovations and offices we plan circuits, switching and light levels room by room, then install to that plan.
